Merry Christmas

Alot of folks come in my office on site at Heritage and make the comment that I probably have the nicest office view of anyone out there. Lets face it, it aint bad. The work that I do for Heritage is equally as nice for me personally as I truly enjoy what I am doing. But, there are days where I roll out of bed and head to the job and no matter what you do or how much you love it, there are days where its going to be nothing more than a job. My wife woke up full of life this morning ready to have our traditional Christmas Eve breakfast. She couldn't have been sweeter or looked any better and I wanted to spend the day with her, Hannah Cate, and Madelyn. The reality was this morning I woke up knowing I was headed to work. My wife was able to record my glee as I ate breakfast with her and my daughter (i get the bah humbug stocking this year). See below. With all that said, now let me say Have yourself a Merry Christmas. I feel much better tonight as I am reminded all over again that my Christmas gift is the gift that will keep on giving for all of eternity.

A Day In The Life,

Not a day goes by that I don't answer some version of the question, "How are y'all succeeding when not much else seems to be doing all that well?" My immediate response, "Have you been here and seen this place"? The rest of the conversation that follows is the secret to our success!!

When you think about it, it gets more simple. As you read this blog ask yourself right now, Would you rather be where you are currently or would you rather be watching the sunset sink into the gulf while sitting by the fire, making friends with all the other guest and owners? Would you rather get up in the morning and head off to work or be like one of our owners who woke up this morning, left our Marina headed for his "spot", reeled in the fish below, already had it cooked to his liking by a local chef and has made it a truly fresh catch meal? By the way, chances are good Mr. Webb and Naptime, his boat, will do it all over again tomorrow. Why not? So, the real question is not whether we will succeed, thats already been answered. The question now is "Will you be part of the heritage of Heritage?"

One If By Land, Two If By Sea

Mr. Revere would have a tough call to make here at Heritage as folks will be coming to the resort by way of their coaches and their boats. But nonetheless, we will keep the lanterns burning to let you know you have found your Home. For you golfers, a shoreline putting green is being constructed and we will make the shots as challenging as we can so as to bring about some enjoyable competition. A life lesson I learned many years ago that actually becomes more relevant as time passes. "I heard and I forgot, I saw and I remembered, I did and I understood." So for me to tell you about Heritage, in one ear out the other. If you come and see it, the memory will stick. If you come experience it as a guest, You'll get it and forever be hooked!

A Colorful Reminder

Sunday night we hosted the Roadrunners caravan that is based out of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Forty smiling faces came and spent the evening with us and we could not have enjoyed it more. To see these folks enjoying the fruits of many months and years of labor brought about a bundle of joy for our staff . The Roadrunners were a fresh reminder to all of us why Heritage is soon to be an industry leader. Heritage's intangible "Home on the Road" personality was on full display Sunday night as we all enjoyed a catered meal and an open bar. We as a staff understand that our guest are out to make everyday count. Good food and fun friends sure make it easier.

Most everyone spent the time they were here fellowshipping on our second floor balcony overlooking the bay. When you get here, you'll also discover that the views just don't get any better than our clubhouse and shoreline. We had a few surprise guests (dolphins) decide to play right off our pier for a few minutes.

The night was drawing to a close and I was visiting with some folks discussing several of the topics that people like to become well versed in when considering owning property on the gulf coast. We were discussing how owning in a Motor coach resort instead of a beachfront condominium helps minimize many of the things that can be burdensome to owners such as insurance, maintenance, etc. As we were starting to discuss how tropical weather may effect the land on which Heritage is located, I began explaining to them that we are one of the highest points in Orange Beach. In the midst of that train of thought I glance over the bay to see a rainbow. Full blown crayola box rainbow. I just laughed. You see, rainbows are to serve to mankind as a reminder that God will never again flood the earth the way he did in Noah's day (Gen 9:12-16). Thank you Lord for the colorful, timely reminder that You are faithful to your children.

I can't wait to let the good times begin here soon. Don't get me wrong, I have loved most every minute of being a part of this project from its inception but Sunday night reminded us all, this place is about the owners and guests enjoying life one sunset at a time and those days are right around the corner.

Eye Candy

These pictures are of the power pedestals on the pier, our first boat lift installed and ready for the Webb's boat, the coachhouse interior utilities intallation, and the clubhouse exterior. Also, a shot of our fireside pavillion located above the management office. If I catch any of you getting snuggly and acting like smitten teenagers up there by the fire, you'll be sent back to your coach!!

Follow The Brown Brick Road

Our first coach came and stayed the night this past weekend so we could start a photo shoot bright and early Monday Morning. The landscaping sure does pull all of the details together and this place is going to be one sight to see when all is said and done. We have circled a date to host a Grand Opening party so continue to check our sites and your email for announcements regarding when you can come and enjoy.

Claudette Drops Off a Treat

After answering about ten calls from you, the "concerned faithful" I thought it would be wise to let you see what a blessing TD Claudette turned out to be. Its amazing how TV leaves viewers with such a distorted view of reality. To sum it up, Claudette hit around lunch time with a force of wind that was about as strong as the medium option on my bedroon ceiling fan. It dropped enough rain that we probably wont have to run the sprinkler on the model lots tonight. But Claudette will indeed live in our memories as the day we started laying the streets. Yes folks, we are getting that close. Today they began laying our brick paver streets one brick at a time. It'll take them a few weeks but as with all things, getting started is usually the hardest part. Lets take a minute to answer all the "No Mores" that are now true. No more heavy trucks are allowed on our precious roads( this makes me laugh as we are building this place for the heaviest machines legally allowed on the road). No more dumping out ten pounds of sand out of my shoes when i get home at night. And last but not least, No more good excuses for those prospects who are waiting to see what everything is going to look like.

Clarence Thomas sleeping in WalMart parking lots!

According to our Associated Press, it seems one of our Supreme Court Justices enjoys the RV lifestyle as well. I'll do what i can to get the Thomas's to come and stay at Heritage. Surely we have better views and amenities than the Wal Mart's they are used too.

Circa 1900

We are tracing this property back as far as we can to learn more about the land that is soon to became a national landmark for the motorcoaching world. Regrettably, grazing cows will not fit within our parameters concerning pets in the resort!

Heritage Version of the Privacy Act

Up this point we have allowed and encouraged any and everybody who wanted to see our resort the option to drive thru either in their car or our golf cart. Thats about to change. The crews started this week pouring the foundation for what is soon to be our front wall, our water featured display sign, and our gas lamp lit entrance and exits. I am excited. The wall will add the cozy, private feel to the resort while also providing the pleasant secure environment that our owners and guest are soon to enjoy. Fun fact, our word paradise, finds its roots in the old Iranian language (pairidaza) when being used to describe the garden of Eden. Pairi translates "around" daza translates "wall". Heritage cant be paradise until it has a wall around it so here we go one brick at a time.

When Its Time To Eat

When i say my goodbyes to anyone that has come to visit, the last question everyone asks is Where Do You Recommend We Eat? I always recommend safe bets because i don't want the burden of responsibility if the meal wasn't all that i made it out to be. So here it goes. Breakfast. I always eat breakfast at home. Honey Nut Cheerios, a Banana, and sometimes one chips ahoy to give me an energy boost. If you are lucky enough to eat out all three meals a day, you are lucky enough and on your own for breakfast. With that said, if you must eat breakfast out, visit North Shore Deli and Grill in San Roc Cay. Order blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese, and some sausage and let me know how it is because i have never had it. I eat breakfast at home. Lunch There are a few must if you are going to be in town for a few days. Tacky Jack's and Bahama Bobs are my burger picks. They both serve a variety of choices and are affordable. Two other mom and pop dives that are worth the visit are Janna's Market on the corner of Canal and 161, and Jims Simply Southern Deli just over the Florida line in Perdido key. Jim's and Janna's both have daily lunch specials that are always well, special. Dinner. Cobalt, Gino's Fresh Catch, Cosmos, and Villagio's. They all know what they are doing and are worth the bill. There plenty of other options, these are simply the ones that have made me a happy customer each and every time i visit. But the best kept secret down here is yet to come. You see, Heritage lots can be accessorized with outdoor kitchens fit for a king. Big enough to entertain a crowd, yet small and private enough to make a stay at home date seem the perfect choice. The meals coming from our owners grills will be the freshest catch down here. When the waits hit insanity limits at the hotspots, you'll find me here at Heritage, dining with friends. Question is will you be here too?

Doug, Lot 51

Doug, these are the photos you requested. Your shell lacks a little brick work, a roof, and some paint. I took a photo standing where your outdoor kitchen will be looking south at the water, enjoy!

If I Owned An RV

Talking to all my new, life long friends that Ive made while being a part of Heritage, I have developed an uncurable itch to one day join the club of motorcoach ownership. I have discovered that though it is a growing family, it sure is a close knit one where it seems everybody knows everybody. When the owners and prospects come to visit, I always try to ask them where they are coming from and where they are headed next just to see if i've been there and if their destinations are bucket list worthy. If I ever get the opportunity to own a coach my trips would always include the list below. If you have been to a must see/do that you would like to pass along, let me know and ill let all who read know
1. Every Auburn Football Game, home and away.2. Every April, I would be in Mt. Vernon, Washington for the tulip field season. The prettiest display of the crayola box that you'll ever see3. Any waterfall i could find

What a Difference a day, or two, makes

I had to make the annual trip to my wife's company picnic in Birmingham. We are getting so close at the resort that things are coming together, literally, on a daily basis. Leaving for a few days and coming back brings a fresh reminder that I am blessed enough to be a part of what is soon to be one the nicest motorcoach resorts anywhere. In fact, if any of you know of one nicer, send me the link!
